Gaming by Numbers!

This post is for showing progress in the event Gaming by Numbers which is on PSNProfiles.com's forum. Each trophy list on the site has a URL starting with a four-digit number, like so:

https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/7284-vitaminx-destination

To complete the event you must choose 4-10 games which has their trophy list URLs where the last digit(which I highlighted in blue) goes from 0 to 9. My list of games is below, the picture will get updated as I complete games.

NEW UPDATE: Since I had some really bad experiences, I have decided to resort to a simple list showing which games I've completed.

Dragon Questapalooza: Zenithian Trilogy

With Dragon Warrior 1-3 done, it was time to tackle the NDS remakes of Dragon Quest 4-6:

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen

Completed the main story in one day, it was rather fast thanks to a Pro Action Replay code that makes every hit you do a critical strike, meaning you're doubling your damage, so I didn't need Borya (Brey for those who played Dragon WARRIOR IV ^_^) for his Twinhits spell, which means I had both of the healers(Kiryl/Cristo & Meena/Nara) to keep Alena and C.J. the female hero topped off while they were doing over 300 damage to Psaro the Manslayer. Sadly, I burned all of my Yggy leaves in his third phase(Estark with only the head) because he kept spamming Whack, aka Beat, and Kiryl, my better healer, seems to be weak to it. :(

Dragon Warrior IV was my first ever RPG experience back on the old 8-bit NES and while it was boneeeeee (censored) hard, it was fun to play. I admit the random encounter rate and failure to escape from hard encounters was a bone to pick, but back then you didn't have save states. :p

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride

Grandmaster Nimzo took very little time to kill but he did a lot of damage. As you see, my goal was to use a slime in my final party, and King Cureslime(which I didn't get until near the end) was able to dish out a lot of damage and use Omniheal and Insulatle when needed. Nimzo bit the dust a few days after Psaro, dying on October 4, 2018, just before noon. :)

Boy, was this a journey. Oh, and I chose Nera as the bride because I am a sucker for blue hair. Oomph negated the critical code cheat code so it was pretty useless, but the son's Kabuff was still helpful and the daughter was a mock healer when I got the sage's stone and her Kaboom helped with the damage.

(I also used a code that drained all enemy's MP to zero, so they couldn't use magic. That didn't stop Nimzo from using breath attacks and doing his own critical hits but my party was buff enough to tank all of the attacks.)

Final stats, and final party: The advance troops were my main character(CJ), the King Cureslime(who doesn't have a high level cap but has tons of HP to make up for it), and my hero's kids(as you can see, I named them as they are because I really love World of Final Fantasy ^_^). The reserves were a Slime Knight, my old Sabercat buddy, a Healslime, and a Golem. They never saw action. :p

Dragon  Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's a wrap! Mortamor was slain at 10:30 PM on October 5, 2018 by my hand. I admit to heavy cheating but he wasn't too tough. My main character and Ashlynn were both mastered Hero classes (and they mastered every class in the game save the two monster classes) and the other characters were Lizzie and Mercury(who I got by hacking the ROM to have a full Dreamcard list of junk Dreamcards, I wanted that gospel ring to make the trek back to the main bady guy a lot easier). So that end the Zenithian trilogy! Three more game to go, folks and then it's time to platinum Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. ^_^

Dragon Questapalooza Progress: The Loto Legacy

This post will detail all of the successes I have toward the Road to Dragon Quest XI, aka my Dragon Questapalooza. You can find the description in my last post.

Successes:
Dragon Quest I (Gameboy Color remake)
Sept. 20: Got to max level(the MP is doctored in the screenshot because I used a Game Shark code to have infinite MP) and defeated the Dragonlord(called the DracoLord in the remake).

I save-scummed a lot of Metalys to get to max level before I tackled the MadKnight guarding thje Loto Armor. After that, it was rather easy to get to Charlock and take down the big lizard. :)

Sept. 21: Got to max level in Dragon Warrior II and beat Hargon and Sidoh/Malroth. What the heck is with those levels, Prince? :(

Oh well, you're dead too. :p

On Dragon Warrior III (GBC), I have been farming for gold monster medals in hopes of getting all 165 before fighting Grand Dragon. That will probably be impossible as, even though I use save states to manipulate drops, medals drop VERY rarely. 90% of the time I don't get anything dropped, which means a lot of mashing to reload my save state right after the battle ends and awards the experience.

Shoot for the moon fall into the muck. That's what this was, a lot of muck. I have since decided to scale back my Dragon Quest journey. Oh, I intend to get all these damn gold medals if it's my last dying wish! But I am not going to stay on this game forever, so here is my new policy:

Once I beat the game's secret dungeon once, I will move to the next game.

This means I beat the main story boss, then trudge through the first secret dungeon(or just the regular one if there is only one) and fight the super-boss at the end. Then I switch to the next game.

Scratch that, I just want to get to the end of the main story and leave all post-game stuff to maybe a later date. I abandoned the metal hunting after I realized how long it would take. I don't want this journey to take forever. I may try to go for the secret bosses in IX, VII, and VIII but I probably won't. I want to just get through the games and enjoy the stories. So therefore...

Dragon Warrior III:

Zoma is destroyed at 12:30 PM, September 29, 2018

Final Stats for my party:
  • C.J.: The hero (female)
  • Kate(changed her name from Xixa): A priest who class-changed into warrior at Level 30.
  • Jen: A dealer who class-changed into a Sage(with the Zen Book) at Level 20.
  • Sara(changed her name from Ante): A jester who class-changed into sage at Level 20
Next post: The Zenithian triology! ^_^

Dragon Questapalooza!

Dragon Questapalooza!

After playing through a bit of Dragon Quest XI and earned four trophies(three story and one miscellaneous), I decided to start over but with a twist. Before I can earn the platinum of this game I have to challenge myself to master all of the Dragon Quest games that it descended from. Dragon Quest is my favorite JRPG series and I want to show my loyalty by mastering every game that led up to Echoes of an Elusive Age., so before I start playing Dragon Quest XI from the beginning, here are my goals(which I will try to capture and post here). (Note that some of these will be captured from emulators as locating the devices and cartridges is a very tough task. I don't condone emulation except for personal entertainment.)
  • Dragon Warrior I & II (Gameboy Color): Defeat the final boss and be equipped with the best equipment and be at a really high level.
  • Dragon Warrior III (Gameboy Color): Defeat the GrandDragon and earn all gold monster medals in the game.
  • Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen - Defeat the post-game final boss with the secret character on my team.
  • Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride - Defeat the post-game secret boss with only one human character
  • Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation - Defeat the secret post-game boss with all levels maxed and equipment to ultimate form using one monster
  • Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of a Forgotten Age - Recruit the secret Haven member and get the secret post-game characters
  • Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS) - Recruit both new characters and use them to clear the Dragovanian trials fully.
  • Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies - Obtain a full set of unique Legacy Gear for all four of my characters
I know this will mean I won't get the platinum for Dragon Quest XI until 2019, but that's okay as I plan on it being my 100th platinum!

My Vita Backlog

These are games I am working on or have finished and were played on my aging Playstation Vita.

Word Search by POWGI: Got platinum on September 19, 2018

A long slow boring ordeal. If you are so hungry for word search puzzles, there are plenty of publishing companies willing to deforest the world to give you your word search fix. You don't need a virtual dog head making bad jokes as a reward for a tough puzzle involving hunting down words.

Trophophobia Page

"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

This is my contribution to Team Cujo of the Trophophobia event. If you want to read the thread for that event, the link is below. I will put doctored screenshots in place of the placeholder text later.

Nightmares from the Deep 3: Davy Jones (Platinum)

Davy Jones' Locker is an idiom for the bottom of the sea: the state of death among drowned sailors and shipwrecks.[2] It is used as a euphemism for drowning or shipwrecks in which the sailors' and ships' remains are consigned to the bottom of the sea (from Wikipedia)

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture (Platinum)

I don't fear death so much as I fear its prologues: loneliness, decrepitude, pain, debilitation, depression, senility. After a few years of those, I imagine death presents like a holiday at the beach. (Mary Roach)

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 (Platinum)

He pressed the golden metal to his lips and whispered, "I am about to die." (Harry's words when he opens the Golden Snitch bequeathed to him at the end of Deathly Hallows, the very reason I made this game the entry for the "fear of dying" entry. 6_^)

Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus (7%)

Lost Grimoires 2: Shard of Mystery (Platinum)

She is free in her wildness, she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. 'Time' for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water. (Roman Payne)

 Seasons after Fall (Platinum)
(The theme here is fear of fear itself; this is basically the "mascot" entry where you play a game which fits the theme of your horror movie mascot. Since Cujo is a Saint Bernard who became rabid, the theme is to play a game involving animals, and I thought about this game. ^_^)

“And the most terrifying question of all may be just how much horror the human mind can stand and still maintain a wakeful, staring, unrelenting sanity." (Stephen King, Pet Sematary, a story about a graveyard where pets are buried and come back as rabid zombies... and a child hit by a truck is buried there and becomes Satan Incarnate :P)

I hope you enjoyed reading this thread. ^_^

A new change

I have decided to repurpose my old account blog to detail events I am participating in on PSNProfiles.com and Playstationtrophies.org. This is because I want to do really neat trailers and stuff but it's impossible to put them on the forums in the way I want to, so this is what the blog is for.

And for the skeptics: THIS(DragonQuest238) WILL BE MY FINAL AND PERMANENT OFFICIAL PSN ACCOUNT. I have finally hit the straw that broke the camel's back. I am finally tired of playing the same easy games over and over again and really just want to get 238 platinums on an account before I die of old age. Why 238? Because somehow 238 is my lucky number for some reason. :)
